The Willowmoore High School Photography Club is one
of the newer extra murals and is still nding its feet, but
shows a great deal of promise. 2019 was a year of re-
markable artistic endeavour and growth for the club as a
whole and for its members. Our weekly meetings saw a
great deal of incredible images being produced, the
best of which will be exhibited in the new year. The club
w was invited to participate in the Canon Student Photog-
raphy Roadshow which gave the club a window into the
lives of several world-renowned photographers and
some practical advice on how to break into the industry.
In addition, our learners were invited to participate in
Canon’s Student Photography Competition. The year
closed with our photographers visiting the Walther
L a me e a h I s ma i l Sisulu Botanical Gardens for some nature photography
and a little much needed outdoor relaxation. 2019 also
saw the introduction of a Photography Club Trophy. The
inaugural trophy was awarded at the school’s extra
murals award ceremony to Lamee’ah Ismail, the founder
and passionate chairperson of the Club. We look forward
to 2020, and the opportunity to continue our artistic en-
deavours, our involvement with Canon, and branching
out into regular event photography, recording the
achievements and experiences of Willowmoore’s learn-
ers.
